BRITTNEY MICHAELS

BCBA, AMFT

I am a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, an Associate Marriage And Family Therapist, and an Executive Function Coach with over a decade of experience supporting individuals and families. I began my work in 2011 in New York City, where I developed a strong clinical foundation working with neurodivergent pediatric clients, later expanding my practice to include adults with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, schizophrenia, and co-occurring diagnoses. My work bridges practical skill-building with relational and emotional support, helping clients navigate both day-to-day challenges and deeper systemic patterns.

I knew early on that I was called to this work. As a child, I developed a close and meaningful bond with my cousin, who was diagnosed with apraxia and autism. Spending time together, observing how he experienced the world, and witnessing the gaps in understanding and support available to him shaped my perspective and planted the foundation for my future career. That early relationship continues to inform my deep respect for neurodiversity and my commitment to affirming, strengths-based care.

As both a clinician and a mother, I bring a compassionate, real-world lens to my work. I understand the complexity of balancing expectations, emotional needs, and daily demandsβ€”especially within families. My values center on dignity, autonomy, collaboration, and sustainability. Rather than focusing on "fixing" behavior, I help clients and families understand what behavior is communicating, build executive functioning and emotional regulation skills, and create systems that actually work in real life.

I hold a master's degree in early childhood education with dual certification in special education and general education and later completed my board certification as a behavior analyst (BCBA). I also earned a second master's degree in marriage and family therapy and hold certification in executive functioning. I integrate evidence-based behavioral strategies with systemic, attachment-informed, and relational approaches, allowing me to support individuals, couples, and families in a holistic, practical, and deeply human way.

I am especially passionate about supporting parents and other caregivers who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. I am known for my warm, direct style and my ability to translate complex clinical concepts into clear, actionable guidance. My goal is to create a space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to build meaningful, lasting change.
